Ausangate Trekking
Description
Ausangate: The Sacred Apu guarding Cusco
In the heart of the Cusco Andes, the imposing Nevado Ausangate rises, the fifth highest mountain in Peru and the most representative of the region. With a height of 6384 meters above sea levelThis colossus of ice and rock dominates the landscape, inspiring respect and admiration.
For the Andean people, Ausangate is an important Apua protective deity and source of life. Her name in Quechua, Awsanqatimeans "the one with the white face", referring to its perennially snow-covered summit.
Its natural beauty is incomparable: shimmering glaciers, turquoise lagoons of crystalline waters, ancient stone forests and vast high Andean plains make up a unique landscape that captivates everyone who contemplates it.
